Name: dazai osamu Door: right Canon: bungou stray dogs Canon Point: chapter 57 Age: 22 Appearance: hereHistory: herePersonality: + Cunning: One of the only positive traits anyone can agree on. Upon becoming involved in the mafia, Dazai's thorough planning and attention to detail, as well as his ability to predict the movements and plans of others, led to him becoming the youngest leader in the mafia. He is incredibly cunning, willing to subject himself and others to harm in order to fulfill a plan, going as far as to 'fall' for enemy plots as long as he believes it necessary for his own plan to work out. His enigmatic personality allows him to easily fool others in the course of said plans, and his confidence in his ability and his tendency to plan for everything leads others to follow his directions.
- Apathy: I always lose the things I don't want to lose the most. That's why I don't feel anything anymore. For much of his life, Dazai has been attempting and failing to find a reason to live. Each attempt, beginning with his joining the mafia, has apparently failed to bring him closer to finding a reason, or something to fill the hole inside of himself. He once told his closest friend and the person who knew him best that his reason for joining the mafia was "because of an expectation I had. I thought if I was close to death and violence—close to people giving in to their urges and desires, then I would be able to see the inner nature of humankind up close. I thought if I did that… I would be able to find something—a reason to live."
His defection from the mafia was for a similar reason: since he found nothing of value in the mafia, and would not find anything to fill the void, he may as well be on the side of good rather than bad. Up to the present time, all of his behaviors, his attempts at suicide, his built relationships and the paths he's gone down, have been an attempt to find a reason to continue to live, but even while he displays a carefree demeanor, deep down, this does not appear to have changed.
- Self-destructive: As long as anyone has known him, Dazai has been attempting to end his own life, not seeing the value in living. In order to attempt to fill the apathetic hole in himself, he seeks out particularly self-destructive behaviors, all the way up to regularly attempted suicides. He uncaringly submits himself to injury in the course of his plans and those of others, has a fondness for drinking, and doesn't take particularly good care of himself.
His first recorded suicide attempt was at age 14, and these have continued on into the present. He ended up joining the mafia, surrounding himself with bloodshed and chaos, in order to find a reason for living; self-destructive behaviors are part of his attempt to either end his life, or increasingly drastic attempts to find reason not to do so. Because he doesn't place any value in his own life, he doesn't have any strong sense of self-preservation. During his time in the mafia, despite how much money he was making, he lived in a shipping container in a toxic waste dump, with little to no furnishings besides the bare minimum.
- Arrogant: Linked to his cunning and intelligence, Dazai's nearly-infallible plans and his confidence instill a sense of arrogance that doesn't afford him many close friends. Even those who do admit to his skills do it grudgingly, and he can be quite insufferable because of it. Dazai often fails to involve others' opinions in his plans, or even to include them in the general planning, leaving partners and companions in the dark to the point of considering him a traitor at one point: during the events of Dead Apple, he concocted an elaborate plan and told nobody, leading almost everyone to believe he had truly betrayed them, as it seemed like something Dazai might do. All of this, including his faked death, was part of a plan Dazai was confident enough would work that he didn't feel the need to tell anyone.
He has been arrogant since his youth, wholly confident in his own abilities, treating partners and subordinates poorly. Because of this, he tends to have more enemies than friends. Powers and Abilities: Dazai's ability, No Longer Human, nullifies the ability of anyone he touches as long as there is skin contact. It is always active; the only time it would be inactive is upon Dazai's own death. Even abilities that would pose a benefit to himself, such as healing abilities in the case of injury, are nullified upon contact with his body.
