It's a horrible party. That is, Dazai thinks all parties are horrible until he is very, very drunk, and even then, he'll complain about it in the morning. He's simply not a social person, as outgoing and obnoxious as his personality seems to be. And yet, here he is. Why?

Free alcohol, of course. He's not going to attend a dry party.

He seems to continuously end up running in the same circles as that Jouno fellow. Dazai hates him, too, but he's pretty, surprisingly good at making out when he's not trying to use his teeth, and it's sort of amusing to watch him get angry.

Which is what he's planning to do until he's drunk enough to enjoy himself. It's honestly pretty clear neither of them wants to be here, but Dazai is much better at faking it than Jouno is. Oh, he has no doubt the guy could fake it if he wanted to; it's that he simply doesn't, and that in itself is sort of impressive.

"What boldness you have, to look this out of sorts at someone else's party. Do you look like this at your own as well?" Dazai sips the red plastic cup of something he's nabbed, a very distinct alcohol aftertaste.

That's true, but Dazai prefers people who don't pretend to have dignity. If there's nothing there, might as well own up to it. Then again, he'll pretend to have dignity when it's necessary; it's simply that a party like this doesn't fit the bill.

"You could have left, you know." Dazai reminds Jouno of the obvious before he saunters away, grabbing two of the mixed drinks for them.

He gets them filled to the top--at least, as much as possible without spilling--and winds his way back to Jouno. Dazai can drink quite a bit before he gets drunk, but he's already had a few of these, and he knows there isn't any amount of measuring going on at a high school party with pilfered alcohol.

It's true that Jouno could have left, but he would have had to find somewhere else to go or deal with his parents at home. Everywhere seemed as insufferable as here, and at least here, there were drinks. He shouts after Dazai for him to shut up, waiting (albeit impatiently) for the other to return.

He busies himself listening to a girl sobbing in the corner. At least that is delightful, and were Dazai not back quickly with his drinks, Jouno probably would have gone over and found a way to rub in whatever was wrong with her. Dazai returns, though, so he takes his drink and sips it carefully, not wanting to spill any on his expensive shirt.

Like Dazai, he has a fairly high tolerance for alcohol -- they'd both have to, considering how often they wound up like this -- but he, too, has been drinking for most of the evening, so he's slightly fuzzier with his senses than he would be normally.

"Let's go," he says once his drink is at a suitable level that he thinks he won't spill it. Then he adds, "If you let me trip over anything tonight, I will actually kill you," as he reaches for Dazai's arm to keep his balance as he walks.

There's the difference between them; Dazai would definitely try to make a move on the crying girl rather than antagonize her further. Not that he has any interest in her, but because it would be more fun than making it worse. He doesn't delight in a woman crying, but he's also not some chivalrous idiot. He just wants to have fun. What else is there to life other than being miserable?

He's already busy, though. He's got a guaranteed lay here, probably, even if Jouno is far less pleasant than other people Dazai has slept with. He complains about everything, and he's mean, and he's just as likely to try and choke Dazai out as he is letting him come. But again, it's fun, so Dazai sips at his drink slightly faster than Jouno does, and by the time they're ready, he's more than half done with it.

"I'm not going to let you trip on anything." And Dazai says it not out of concern for Jouno, but because that would ruin tonight's plans for the both of them. He also doesn't put it past Jouno to actually kill him.

Besides, Dazai is a man of his word, sometimes; if he says he won't, then he won't. Probably.

Jouno hates relying on anyone, so he can't shake the feeling of disgust as he holds onto Dazai with one arm, letting the other lead them out of the party. His other hand carefully balances his drink, occasionally stopping to take sips of it. It tastes terrible, but it'll do the trick of getting him drunk enough that he might have something resembling a good time.

They both know how this usually goes. They'll hook up, Jouno will get violent, and Dazai's bandages will have a purpose to them in the morning. It's routine enough that Jouno has come to expect it when they bump into each other alone.

"I made my driver wait in parking," Jouno comments, words slightly mumbled. "Just find the car and we can go somewhere worth being."

They both hate relying on people; the way they go about avoiding it is simply different. Jouno shuns it altogether, while Dazai is as obnoxious about it as possible until it's something he really needs help with--when he disappears entirely. A great solution, if you ask him.

The drink really does taste terrible.

He hums as they walk, something that Dazai already knows will annoy Jouno. He also knows how this usually goes, and he has no problem with it. It's not like a few extra bandages will be noticed. He's always claimed to hate pain, but he also hates a lot of things he does anyway, so...

"Your driver? I forgot how much you embrace that rich kid aesthetic." Dazai steers them towards the car he knows as Jouno's. He's also got a driver, but like hell is he going to actually use them unless it's really convenient. He'd rather send them off on wild goose chases and waste his father's money.

That being said, he did get a ride here from said driver. He told them to wait for him, with no plans to actually take the car home. He wonders how long they'll wait before giving up.

The humming has Jouno's eyebrow twitch in annoyance and he squeezes Dazai's arm with thin fingers. He knows very well that it's intentional, that Dazai knows it will get under his skin. Dazai simply doesn't care -- or, more likely, he enjoys antagonizing Jouno.

"Shut up," Jouno snaps, though he knows it's futile. If anything, asking Dazai to be quiet will only encourage him to hum louder. "Ugh, I'm not drunk enough to deal with you yet."

It's true that Jouno embraces their lifestyle far more than Dazai. He enjoys being above others, and this is just one more way that he is. Besides: "Well, it's not like I could do it myself."

The car is easy to find, and the driver hurries out once he spots them to open the door for them. Jouno hears it open and pulls away from Dazai, climbing in the backseat. He places his drink in the drink holder and then makes himself comfortable -- or at least, does so as much as he can.

"Where do you want to go? I don't care as long as it's not here."

The more people tell Dazai to shut up, the less he will. Jouno knows that, but he still says it every time, and so how is Dazai supposed to resist? He keeps on humming--perhaps a bit more enthusiastically--even as Jouno complains.

Yeah, fair. "I could drive you," Dazai offers, but they both know that's a joke. Dazai is a terrible driver.

He slides into the car after Jouno, tucking long legs inside as the driver closes the door. Honestly, Dazai feels bad for the guy. Anyone who has to work for Jouno really must deal with a lot. Not that working for Dazai is much better, but whatever; that's neither here nor there. He's got to think about where to go if he's going to get laid.

Not that Dazai really minds doing it right here.

"Are your parents home?" Dazai's place is a no-go; his father's home at this hour, and he really does not feel like dealing with that.

"Unlike you, I have no desire to die today," Jouno replies, though he's drunk enough now to actually laugh at Dazai's offer to drive.

Once they're in the car, the driver wordlessly shuts a door -- almost all of Jouno's 'help' has learned to be silent when around him -- and heads to the front of the car to wait for instruction.

"I'd be home if they weren't." It's not like Jouno enjoyed parties, but he enjoyed being around his family even less. "A motel, maybe? Somewhere seedy that won't care if you scream." As if to punctuate what he means, Jouno pulls out a pocket knife and flicks it open, running a finger along the blade. Sharp and satisfying; it'll do to cut into Dazai's skin later.

The driver seems to take the hint and starts the car, while Jouno keeps his attention on the blade in hand.

"How badly can I hurt you tonight?" There's a breathless to his voice when he asks -- excitement.

Dazai tsks, like he's actually admonishing Jouno. "I have no desire to die today either." It's obviously a lie, but also a half-truth; he might as well wait until he gets laid to die, right? Final acts, and all that. He'd rather spend his (hypothetical) last night in pleasure rather than not.

Though he doesn't doubt Jouno plans on fucking him up a bit, so maybe not entirely pleasure, either. He hears the click of the knife, glances over at it without surprise. Jouno is always doing shit like this, and frankly, it's why Dazai bothers with him. Otherwise, he'd simply be some rich brat, and Dazai has no desire to be friends with someone like himself.

Not that they're really friends.

"A motel is fine." He doesn't care about the setting, anyway. "You know you aren't allowed to hurt me at all. I hate pain."

That's also a lie. They both know it's expected between the two of them, and the answer is: Dazai doesn't care. Jouno can do what he wants, as long as it doesn't get either of them into trouble. If he wanted to kill Dazai, it'd be fine, but Dazai knows he won't go that far. No need to ruin a perfectly good trust fun.
