"I can be kind." The smile on Jouno's face is anything but. It's not a complete lie. Jouno can be kind when the reward is something he wants. For praise and admiration, he'll adopt any personality he needs to on the surface. It's why his professors all tend to think highly of him. The ones he hasn't torn down, at least.
"If you don't want me to destroy your clothing, you shouldn't be wearing any when I get here." Neither guilt nor any hint of an apology creep into Jouno's voice. While he could easily buy Dazai a new wardrobe a hundred times over, he never would. Sliding the knife back in his pocket, he returns his attention to Dazai's chest, this time feeling over the bandages to see if he can determine any new wounds. When he finds one, he presses his thumb against it roughly.
He doesn't need a denial; he knows that he's almost certainly right. Though, Dazai probably had asked his fair share of girls. Dazai came on strong with women -- he'd probably asked for a double suicide at the end of the project. Really, Jouno probably should have chosen Dazai as his subject. He's interesting in the way many people were not. "They were smart then," Jouno comments nonchalantly, tilting his thumb to dig the nail into the bandage.
"Even simple people have a breaking point." It's just not always as rewarding to find.
"Besides, I'm a little curious," he admits. "I've never met someone as stupid as he is."
